Generally there are two (2) to three (3) fan sizes that will give the required cubic feet of air per minute (CFM) and total static pressure. It is recommended that the largest fan be used because it will run at the lowest tip speed, reducing fan noise and extending the life of the fan. It will not necessarily means that the noise level will be acceptable to OSHA, but that it can be brought to the acceptance level with the use of inlet and discharge silencer and or sound proof enclosure. Housing - The fan housing must be sturdy an dwell built to absorb the loading in material handling fan. Our fan scrolls are continuously welded for additional strength. The scrolls and front and back plates can be made heavier to further reduce material chopping noise in the fan, if required. Shafting - Our shafts are machined from the best grade of ground, polished and straightened shafting available. Bearings - The bearings are the highest quality self aligning roller bearings available for the speed and loading conditions for material handling fans. Inlets and Discharge - the fan inlet is a straight collar design which allows for an inlet flange or vibration isolation. The discharge is normally flanged but depending on rotation can also be attached to vibration isolators. The vibration isolation packages are used to prevent transmission of vibration to ductwork. The vibration comes from heavy material loading on the fan. Arrangement - an arrangement 1 is the most used arrangement because the fan and motor is mounted to a fan platform. The motor on a slide based is independently mounted with a proper center distance so that all fan speed changes are available. Generally, the arrangement 9 is limited due to close center distance and minimal adjustment on the slide base. The platforms are made sturdy so that legs can be attached and suspended either from the ceiling or mounted above the floor. |
